Cuba sends accused of paedophilia back to the U.S.

HAVANA (AP) - Cuba sent this Friday a fugitive the U.S. back to the United States, where he is accused of sexually abusing a minor and possession of child pornography.
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Leonard Auerbach came into Cuba by Mexico on April 8 and, on May 7, was arrested thanks to information provided by the U.S. authorities.
In a statement sent to the press in April, the U.S. authorities said they Auerbach, 61, who lived in California and expert in mortgages, was on the list of "most wanted" by keeping sex with children and possess pornographic pictures of a girl in Costa Rica.
The Cuban government said it decided to act because "the charges that weigh against him in the United States are serious and fought strongly by our authorities."
Cuba added that found no evidence that the U.S. has committed crimes in Cuba.
Cuba and the United States, which are only 140 kilometers away, do not maintain diplomatic relations, but Cuba had sent the U.S. fugitives back to their country.
