Federal Police conducts operation and holds the newborn son of governor and 11 more

Around 190 police involved in "Operation Hygieia" to meet 13 warrants of arrest and 42 search and seizure in Rio Grande do Norte (RN) and Paraiba (PB). According to the advice of the FP, 11 people were arrested in newborns and one in Paraiba. There is still a prison to be done also in newborns.

Also according to the PF, the group promoted the diversion of public funds, mainly in health, through contracts with companies kept the two states. The contracts were awarded and extended through the payment to civil servants.

According to the FP, there was also the practice of corruption of public officials and trafficking of influence for emergency hiring.

The investigations began in late 2005 and were conducted by the Regional Superintendent of Police Federal do Rio Grande do Norte.

The payment of monthly bills of contracts carried out illegal amounts to $ 2.4 million per month. The values of contracts fraudados reach the sum of over $ 36 million, throughout the period investigated.

The prisoners can answer for the crimes of ideological falsehood, embezzlement, corruption, prevarication, trafficking in influence, the auction fraud, improper exemption from bidding, sponsorship of private interest and improper contract extension. Penalties cominadas alone range from 3 months to 12 years' imprisonment.

The advice of the Governor Vilma de Faria was contacted by the press but did not rule on the case.
